kovpn how does it work

Hi all,

I configured openvpn on my client machine and I can connect succesfuly.

Now I wanted to have a GUI to use on my desktop (I use gentoo).

I emerge kovpn. I ran it and the only documentation I can find is that you have to add a host (in Configure kovpn) with 127.0.0.1 and port 11194.

However I cant seem any link where this port 11194 port is coming from.
It is not in netstat and I dont know what service should provide it.

I tried to find documentation but there is just none :S, no user experiences, ...

Thanks in advance

My laptop went out of battery.

So I restarted and now it is working correctly.
It seems that kovpnsetup adds a few lines to /etc/openvpn/openvpn.conf (with the port number to use for the management interface)

If /etc/init.d/openvpn gets started it does not really start the vpn connection.
It start a management listener.

You then start kovpn and connect with the listener (using port 11194 or whatever is configured in /etc/openvpn/openvpn.conf)
From that moment on you can manage that OpenVPN connection (Connect/disconnect)

I hope this helps someone else understand how this works.
