kmail question

I have kmail on both my laptop and desktop because during the week I am not home to use my desktop, but then on the weekends I exclusively use my desktop. Because of this when I check my email on fridays on my desktop it redownloads all the messages from the whole week that i have already read on my laptop.

Is there a way to keep messages still on the server while also not letting the client redownload already read messages it has not seen? Is there a way to tell kmail to download only unread messages because I cannot find it.

I suspect your using POP3 to receive email. If your email server supports it, IMAP would probably be a better choice when pulling mail from one account between a laptop and desktop.

Why do you want to leave messages that you have already read on the server?
