keyboard re-mapping

env:Mandreake 10.1 (kernel 2.6) kde disply manager...

character on my keyboard are not correctly displyed...
i'm using an ibm italian keybord.....

i'm missing some specification on the etc directory ?
then second ther a ,linux utility used to remap keyboard ?

Under X11, xmodmap can re-map keys.
E.g., I used
xmodmap -e 'keysym F12 = dead_diaeresis'
Read the man page -- xmodmap can to pretty neat things.
