keyboard layout

Hi
I have changed my keyboard layout(add a new layout) in kdeś control center. Now when I try to type quotation mark (double or single) in US layout it doesnīt work. Then I decided to disbale layouts but this this didnīt solved this problem.
how can I restore my keyboard layout to its original? what is its configration files? or How can I use 2 layouts without this problem?

I have a FC4 system which acts goofy like that, no amount of tweaking the kde control center or commands like system-config-keyboard will get the settings to stick through a reboot.
So, until a better idea comes around, I put this command in the /etc/profile .....

setxkbmap -model pc104 -layout en_US -variant basic

Lightbulb Dead Keys?

Ref. http://dry.sailingissues.com/us-inte...rd-layout.html

The problem that you describe sounds like Linux Deadkeys. In this case press the quote and 12 other keys does nothing unless you follow the key with space or follow the key with another key that can be modified by the qoute. For example <"> <e> will produce ë.

See Ref for a more detailed description of dead keys.
