Hi,
I am trying to compile my mandrake kernel to enable AES encryption. The compilation and build succeed but when i try out my custom kernel it hangs and says something about kernel panic and no init.
I've read some posts here and saw that it can be caused by pseudo-filesystems etc so i guess this might be my problem.
things i change in the config:
* AES loopback device (which after patching is available in xconfig - block devices)
* RAM disk support
* ext3 filesystem support
* second extended fs support
all these options are allready turned on in the mandrake .config except for the AES which wasnt there before patching. They also warn about the /dev filesystem support but i already tried both enabled and disabled all result in kernel panic.
Has anyone succesfully patched a 2.6.8 kernel (preferably one of mandrake
with AES encryption (loopback device) enabled? if so, did you have this same problem and can you give me some hints please?
the thing i would like to do is to have my second disk completely encrypted (on the fly encryption) and i've been told that AES one of the best encryption methods... yet this is all very experimental to me so any suggestions are very welcome
thank you
