kdeinit: Aborting. $DISPLAY is not set


after installing suse 10.0 (from the internet) monitor shuts off and displays "frequency over range" I physically shut down the computer and installed a video card and now I have dos-like environment after logging on I typed in "kdeinit" the following was displayed

kdeinit: Aborting. $DISPLAY is not set

Log in as root and run sax2 from the command line. sax2 will lead you through configuring your monitor.
