KDE 3.4 conf problem

Hi all,

Just upgraded my KDE to the version 3.4 and I came up with the following problem:

I was trying to change the time in KDE and although I entered my root password in the password window, the configuartion window did not appear (and I didn't get any feedback). I tried to change the time by using the control center but I came up with the same problem - I tried to change to Administrator mode but nothing happened.

Does anyone have the same problem? Oh! And I still have the desktop icon repositioning thing (bug). Thought they fixed that

Open a console, man date

KDE3.4 hasn't reached unstable yet, so I wouldn't be in a rush to install it... IMHO.

Cheers,

I can't remember the last time that using the kde clock thingy worked. I enter these commands manually. A person can also use the the command: timeconfig for setting the timezone. If you are dual booting with other types of systems, the UTC should be unchecked.

# You can enter the info manually in /etc/sysconfig/clock.
# /etc/sysconfig/clock sets whether the hardware clock is stored as UTC or local time.
ZONE="America/New_York"
UTC=false
ARC=false

ln -sf /usr/share/zoneinfo/US/Eastern /etc/localtime ## to set your timezone.

date -s "08/14/2005 15:51:00" ## to set the current system date/time.

/sbin/hwclock --systohc ## to set the hardware clock.

The icons moving around on the desktop seems to be an elusive problem and I have seen any sollutions yet.
