kamix errors(libartskde.so.1)

I am trying to install kamix on my slackware box but keep getting the below errors.

root@hostname:/installs/installed# kamix
kamix: symbol lookup error: /opt/kde/lib/libartskde.so.1: undefined symbol: _ZTv0_n28_N4Arts16SynthModule_stub11autoSuspendEv

user@hostname:~$ kamix
kamix: symbol lookup error: /opt/kde/lib/libartskde.so.1: undefined symbol: _ZTv0_n28_N4Arts16SynthModule_stub11autoSuspendEv

ls -l /opt/kde/lib/libartskde.so.1
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 19 2006-05-20 17:26 /opt/kde/lib/libartskde.so.1 -> libartskde.so.1.2.0

I have installed kamix through slapt-get and through pkgtool. same error both ways.

package http://linuxpackages.cs.utah.edu//Sl...-i486-2kjz.tgz

slapt-get
kamix-0.6.5-i486-2kjz

slapt-get -search lib | grep kde
kdelibs-3.4.2-i486-1 [inst=no]: kdelibs (KDE libraries)
kdelibs-3.4.2-i486-2 [inst=no]: kdelibs (KDE libraries)
qalculate-kde-0.9.3.1-i486-1szl [inst=no]: qalculate-kde (qalculate-kde)
kdelibs-3.5.2-i486-1 [inst=yes]: kdelibs (KDE libraries)

kmix works fine on this box. But I'd like to add kamix as well.

thanks!

uname -r
2.6.13

slapt-get -search arts | grep arts
arts-1.4.2-i486-1 [inst=no]: arts (Analog Realtime Synthesizer)
arts-1.4.2-i486-2_slack10.2 [inst=yes]: Analog Realtime Synthesizer)

Im also having a problem with arts crashing when I boot up. I have installed both version of arts from slapt-get, one at at time and they both crash. Im assuming this is all related?

when I boot up I get the Soundserver crash box
ps -ef | grep arts

user 4041 4016 0 15:35 ? 00:00:00 drkonqi -display :0.0 --appname artsd --apppath artsd --signal 11 --pid 4016 --appversion 1.4.2 --programname Soundserver --bugaddress submit@bugs.kde.org
user 4016 4001 0 15:35 ? 00:00:00 artsd -F 10 -S 4096 -m artsmessage -c drkonqi -l 3 -f

This backtrace appears to be of no use.
This is probably because your packages are built in a way which prevents creation of proper backtraces, or the stack frame was seriously corrupted in the crash.
