KaMix Problem

Hello to All,
I recently changed over to SuSe 9.0 Professional. After installation I went to adjust the volume with KaMix, but only got partial screens, with no ability to adust the volume. On the last install (had other problems), I managed to change the volume during the installation to 100 %. I now hear sounds, but the KaMix under KDE 3.1 still show the same mostly blank screens for playback, capture etc. Also the CD player does not produce any sound. Any ideas/help/suggestions? TIA if anyone does.
Glenn
