Questions relating to Java and Mozilla have appeared on this forum (and many other Linux forums) a million times. This one is kind of tricky (at-least to me) .
I downloaded j2e1.5.0(beta) [j2re-1_5_0-beta-linux-i586.bin] from suns website. Installed it, made ln -s from mozilla plugin directory, saw java listed in *about : plugins* and i was laughing.
Now heres what happens after that...
When i try to open any site which has java in it, mozilla just closes down or hangs, doesnt let me even close the window. Sometimes everything seems to work fine, but all i can see is a java symbol located at the top left corner of the window and nothing happens.
when i look in the control panel(javaws) no applets are listed....
Any suggestions or help to work around this problem will be greatly appreciated
As i had thought, it was not the version that was a problem, it was something that i had done wrong.
I had linked the *libjavaplugin_oji.so* in the ns7 directory by mistake. I realised it and removed that link and linked the one in *ns7-gcc29* directory to my mozilla plugins directory....
It is working like a charm now!!!
Anyway this post maybe helpful for other people who have the same problem
