Sure...it's called The GIMP or something to that effect. I haven't used it much, but it's comparable to Adobe Photoshop (and can even utilize some of it's plugins). Do a google search for it, I'm sure you'll find something related to it...

Are you sure it's not already installed on your system?

The GIMP is by far a more powerful piece of software than Paint Shop Pro (which I use at work from time to time). That being said, it does have a STEEP learning curve, which I am still at the base of.

Yes, I have to agree, GIMP is by far superior to Paint Shop Pro...and was it mentioned already, it's FREE?!

Also, it does have a steep learning curve, but once you get a hold of it, you're pretty much set. If you're familiar with what photoshop is capable of, then you can do it in GIMP, just need to figure out HOW since there are many logistical differences in how the GUI is set up... It definitely takes some getting used to, but a VERY powerful tool nonetheless.

Enjoy!

Lots of good tutorials can be found on the net for the GIMP. I'm sure everyone has their favorites, but I thought I'd get some people started by posting a few sites I've used before.

And of course, GIMP's own: http://www.gimp.org/tutorials/

tutorials, mailing list, tips, program, etc., is all there for you, considering that you'll realize how superior is the Gimp. It's always difficult to start but once you pass a certain minimum level (learning curve) you'd never want to come back. Be clever, use Gimp.

Found this threat a few years later. One important point is missed:
Paint Shop Pro can create images, apparently Gimp cannot.

I had both Gimp and Photoshop on my windows machine before I switched to linux. Personaly They are practically the same things. But I like gimp shop better because the layout is much easier and the setup is easier.

GIMPSHOP!

How can GIMP not create images? I've created plenty with it.
