is there a new installer for Debian serge (RC3) some guy email me , i am going to take a course, i ask some person who works there, it true RC3 serge, or no
I've read about the new Debian installer as well, but I've not seem it yet, and I'm not even sure if it truly exists. I've tried Debian Potato and Woody a long time ago, and it has to have the worst installer I've ever seem, and not only in computers (?). If you still want debian and a good, easier and above all, less buggy installer, give Libranet a shot
Yes, the Debian Sarge installer does exist. It is buried in the Developer's area of the website. Currently they are at RC2. From my understanding, it should be released next year sometime. You may want to give this one a whirl Megaman, although still text based, it's the best Debian installer yet.
Amazing, thanks Sepero and linux-rulz for the info. I might give it a shot after these Holidays . I'm all for the text-based installation. I love Slackware's and FreeBSD's installer, for example. It was about time though to get Debian's fixed
Yes, get i386. Everything else is backwards compatible.
Basicially, as long as the code is less than your processor or the same (eg you have an i686 and it is i586 code....or it is i686 code for your i686) you are fine. The only time you are going to have a problem is if it is compiled for say an AMD K7...this will not run on a Pentium 4 (as far as i know). This is hardly ever a problem though, as i386 and i586 are almost always used.
