Is ivtv pre-installed on Mandriva ?

Hello forum,

I have a question about ivtv and Mandriva 2007.

From all indications, it appears that ivtv (version .7) is already pre-installed on Mandriva 2007 right out of the box. I have NOT installed any version of ivtv as of yet. But I did install the firmware, that's all.

After installing the firmware, I now have a video0 in the device directory.

I have the WinTV 150 capture card installed.

Running dmesg shows everything is working correctly for the ivtv section in the terminal window (see below).

After reading up at ivtvdriver.org, it says eventually the ivtv driver will be part of the Linux kernel but not yet, speaking of a future version of 1.0.

But since I can't find the ivtv utilities anywhere on my computer (ivtvctl, ivtv-tune, etc), I really don't know if ivtv came pre-installed on Mandriva 2007 or not.

Do I still have to install ivtv? Or is it already installed?

Below is the dmesg readout from the terminal window for ivtv, which I have not installed yet.

Thanks,
Roy

The ivtv driver is "under development", but things seems to be improving quickly.
Your distro has installed ivtv, because that is what is recognising your tuner.

You can find a lot of help here:

Utilities Question

Thanks tredegar,

I'm now trying to find the utilities section for ivtv (ivtv-tune and ivtvctl) so I can change inputs to test the card out.

If ivtv is installed already, how can I find the utilities section for changing inputs or channels? They don't seem to be installed by doing a file search, and the terminal window does not recognize the commands such as ivtv-tune or ivtvctl, confirming my belief that they are not installed.

Can you change inputs or change channels from the utilities folder in the unpacked tarball alone?

Thanks much for your help,
Roy
