Is it possible to view images with mplayer?

Apologies if this is in the wrong forum, can a mod move it if so.

I’m a total newbie to mplayer and Linux and was wondering if anyone could answer my question?

Is it possible to view images (jpegs) with mplayer? I have installed mplayer on Fedora Core 3 and can view media files and live streams, but when I try to view jpeg images mplayer justs exists outputting “Mplayer interrupted by signal 11 in module: demux_open. Mplayer crashed by bad usage of CPU/FPU/RAM”

The command I tried was mplayer –vo jpeg imagename.jpg

Also I have the following dll files in /usr/local/lib/win32 and /usr/lib/win
Avifile32.dll, GDI32.dll, avisynth.dll, and MSACM32.dll.

If anybody knows if this is possible or a better way to view images in Linux please help.

Thanks

Mplayer is not the right choice for viewing images. There are several image managers available for linux. Since you are running FC3, you can use GQVIEW, GwenView, GThumb, EyeofGnome, etc.

GQVIEW is installed on your machine and it is very easy to use.

Thanks for quick reply

I used GQView as it worked a treat.

The thing is, I was using mplayer to view media files on my tv using tv-out. I was was going to try and do the same with image files.

If I can get GQView to work with TV-Out, then there shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks for your help.
