How to Remove the virtual machine that is created ???
Not familiar with Xen but I think it would be easier to got to vmware and download their vmware player for Linux. Works well for me.
Hi jay73
thanks for your reply
will the vmplayer runs os created in any os???
what i mean is that i have xp and fedora .Can I use the Virtual machine in linux which is created
in windows xp using vmware ???
Where can I get the RPM package of VMware???
Which os have u installed in virtual machine?
How is the performance??
My comp is 3.00Ghz with 512MB RAM P4 ..Will my system performance decrease because of 2 OSs???
I want to install win98/win2000 so that i can use windows in linux
I suspect that a vm system created on windows will not run on a Linux vmware player. I recently installed a win95 in a vmwareplayer on Fedora, just as an experiment. I noticed that the installer required me to specify which type of Linux I was running as the host OS; that's why I think that you can't run any files that were created using windows.
I'm afraid that with 512 MB of RAM, you will notice an impact on overall performance. If you assign 256 to windows, there will be only 256 left for Fedora. So both OSes will be running at half the RAM you would normally use. Of course, if you use Win98, you should be able to assign less than 256MB = more for Fedora.

I think we can run Virtual machines using vmplayer......!!
How to create a virtual machine ???
Is it possible to do with Vmplayer??
Fill out the details online (type of machine, RAM, drivers, etc.); when you're ready, you'll be able to download a vmx file that will be used to install XP.
i only recently (very breifly) looked into xen, it looks interesting, but why now just install the other OS('s) and use a duel (or multiple) boot system?

Hi jay73
i have downloaded vmx file and vmplayer rpm file and installed it....
i started vmplayer by typing the command vmplayer and selected the vmx file that i have downloaded
now i have got an error .. the error message is as follows
Could not open /dev/vmmon: No such file or directory.
Please make sure that the kernel module `vmmon' is loaded.
when i click ok in this message box i got another message box
Well, did you create the module first? You need to run vmware.pl (or something like that) first to create the required module. You also need kernel sources that match your installed kernel to do this.

yup - I followed a few tutorials, even got some of the same errors I was told I would get, but ultimately, it just wouldn't work for me (vmware)
With Xen, when I booted the xen-kernel, my machine went into hyper-hyper speed, and the clock gained 35 minutes in less than 5 minutes of uptime - needless to say, I shut her down pretty quickly. No amount of googling could rectify this issue.
Finally, as I posted, I stumbled upon VirtualBox, and I'm virtual....
You could be right about the vmware issues. it is working fine for me but I haven't updated my fedora kernel for a while - precisely because I hear that there are certain issues with the latest kernels. Anyways, virtualbox is a perfectly good alternative.
