Installing Fedora on Win98

I have an old klunker (4-5 years old: 266MHz Cyrix [!], 4GB HD, 128 MB RAM) that I would like to be able to dual-boot Linux/Windows 98. Win98 is already installed. I have PartitionMagic 8, to make two more partitions, on the 4GB drive.

I have a few questions:
What are the minimum system requirements for the latest version? The only requirement I could find explicitly defined was 1.8GB HD space (for KDE and GNOME)

I also might have a serious problem. The CD-ROM drive doesn't work. It appears in My Computer, but it doesn't work (ie, when a CD is inserted, Windows fails to do anything [who woulda thunk]). I had once heard about a way to install Red Hat by having the ISOs on your hard drive, but I'm not really sure about that. Ideas?

not too sure about about the sizes of different distros. If you don't mind using a window manager like openbox then you'll probably be fine. There's stuff about booting from the hard drive here.

i've never done it, but i'm pretty sure you just use a boot disk with boot image and then mount the iso images (mkdir /mnt/iso; mount /storage/ftp/iso/yarrow-disc1.iso /mnt/iso -o loop) and go from there. all of this is stolen from the above site. good luck

I would replace the cd-rom and then try knoppix or mepis or slax from the cd and go from there, you don't have much room, david
