Im trying to install Slackware 10 on a P3 500 mhz computer.
My ide controller no longer works, and my 40 gb is now hooked up to a pci ide controller by Promise Ultra133 TX2
How do i install the drivers for ti? Promise says they don't have linux drivers, so what do i do? will another distro have these drivers built in or what?

I think the kernel includes support for Promise IDE controllers. I am assuming that your controller is an add-on card. If so, you probably have to recompile the kernel to include support for your add-on card.

Sorry, I didn't read your first line. I am not familiar with slackware, but I assume the installers are pretty much the same across the various distributions. If Anaconda (the installer) cannot install the necessary drivers nor recognize your HD, I'm not sure if you can do anything about it because at that point it is out of the hands of the BIOS (which I assume can and did recognize your HD). Of course, if you had access to another linux box, it would solve your problems. If I do find some other information on your problem, I'll let you know.
