Exclamation Installed Curl and GD extension and get error: XBM Support required

Hi Fellow Linuxians,

I just updated my Ubuntu server and installed Curl and GD extension but get the error:
XBM Support required

Have searched all over to find what I have to do to get this fixed so I can run a PhP scripted programme that requires these mods...

This is the readout the programme gives:
Checking PHP Version... 4.4.2-1build1 (ok)
Checking System Information... Linux
Checking PHP Server API... apache2handler
Checking Path to 'php.ini'... /etc/php4/apache2
Checking Mysql support... Enabled
Checking Curl Version...
Checking PHP GD extension... On
Checking currently installed GD library ... XBM Support required,.
Checking safe_mode... Off
Checking short_tags... On
Checking file_uploads...On
Checking open base directory...Off

I'm fine using PhP4 instead of PhP5..

Please help if you can,
Thanks, Nick. . .

Welcome to LQ.

The package 'php4-gd' for Ubuntu has xpm support,
and is the one to be installed.
....

That's exactly the install that left us with that error message.
The GD side installed fine but not, apparently, the XBM support ?
I still need to know what to do to either activate it or add it ?

Could it be missing 'libgd-gd2-perl' ? ? ?

Hi,

A bit confused - why would I have to add 'libgd-gd2-perl' ?
I'm only installing the GD/Curl additions for PhP and the programme doesn't use Perl..

Just the only gd related idea, I could come up with yesterday.
( Non relevant ideas sometimes takes you to a useable one ... )

....
And I remember a couple of situations (LQ, a year ago ?)
when 'GD' and 'gd' were installed simultaneously,
but not why.
....

Well, I guess not...

This must be a harder error to fix than I thought as no-one has the solution

Thanks Knudfl for your response...

Nick...
