Infernal beeping!! [postfix/bash]

Whenever new mail arrives in my inbox, a beep occurs for each message. I used to think it was fetchmail, because I deliver mail to port 25 with it, but when sending mail to my local mailbox it still happens, which makes me think it's postfix or bash. I read about disabling the visible bell, but don't want to kill beeps for everything. just supress them for mail delivery.

cheers
alim

Sounds like good old biff

Just add the line (or change it to) biff n in your login script (.login or .profile in your home directory).
