1. Im on Fedora Core 2. GOt it all working. But im confused by everytime i try to run a exe file or rpm it says ther is no action aplication set....I dont understand why and cant do anything to fix it?
Also, I extracted firefox files, but then i couldnt find how to get firfox running
2. The sound test works, but when i try to play a cd i cant here anything...?
First off, any file with an .exe extension is probably a windoze type file, and can only be run using a linux program like Wine. Linux executables do not have extensions, at least not most I've seen.
Next, RPM files are package files to install software. You have Redhat Package Manager on Fedora core. I'm a Mandrake user, and have only used Redhat a limited amount. You want to find the RPM manager, and install the file with that.
Sound. The speakers and sound card work if you get sound from a sound test. This is a sound file somewhere on the system. If you do not get sound from the CD drive, my guess is check to make sure there is a small cable running from the CD drive to the sound card. They can easily become unplugged. I bought a new machine several years ago, and the cable was missing.
You might wanna check ur systems sound mixer... sometimes the defaults for such things is mute. Haha just a simple check to make... sometimes its an easy solution.
I don't know what you have or what Fedora Core 2 uses but... under KDE you can check this with the applet, Kmix.
