if I convert an OO document to PDF, can I reverse it?

On a few occasions, I've converted OpenOffice word processor documents into PDF files. Just out of curiosity, can I convert the PDF back into a text document? I assume not.

Not easily. You can use something like Scribus to edit the PDF or something like xpdf to highlight all the text and copy it back to OO. Of course, OpenOffice doesn't delete your original file, so you should still have it as text...

Hya,

OpenOffice.org may not be able to do whatever you want, however, pdftotext would be able to do something similar.

Happy Penguins!

You can, but it will probably not look like the input file. Best to keep the input file.

OO cannot edit a PDF directly. You need a PDF editor for that.

When I export an OOo document to PDF, I also save it as an Open Office document.

If I have to make changes, I load the OO document, then re-export it to the PDF.
