IBM iSeries Access for Linux Dependency issue

Hi everyone,

I am very new to Linux and I installed FC5. Now I trying to install IBM iSeries access for linux. The first error I got was the dependency error for libXm.so.3. I found that is related to "openmotif" (Not sure exactly what it is, something to do with programs that run dynamic linking). I got the openmotif-2.2.3-10.i386.rpm and in trying to install this one, I am getting the following dependency error:

"Missing Dependency: /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/XKeysymDB is needed by package openmotif"

Any Idea? (Reminder: I am Very new in Linux so it will take me a long time to figure out/understand the hard and complicated responses)

Thanks,

I have had similar issues with FC5 on IBMs and on a Dell server. I spent considerable time researching with search engines and reading LQ forums. I haven't found a solution for my experiment load yet. While I like Fedora I tried SuSE 10.0 and 10.1 on my IBM iSeries just for fun. Using the IBM preinstall cd SuSE load with absolutely no problems even with XEN and all of the virtual capabilities. Moving to SuSE 10 Enterprise server has made 2 of my iSeries rack mount systems absolutely awesome servers. Everything just plain works. I know this is no help but thought I would throw it in as a Linux newbie myself. I have been using Linux systems a year and find it is truly cool and truly frustrating at times. For me the stress level seems lower with SuSE but then after 15 years IT support with Microsoft I didn't know much to begin with. :-) God it sure is hard to unlearn things.
