I need a new distro...

I've been using Slack for about 4-5 years now, I've tryed a few other distro's. Namely, Redhat 7 (I think it was 7) Mandrake and some bootable CD's. The problem that I have is that I want a new distro, something to play with. I'm pretty experienced so I don't want something for linux kiddies. Tell me why your favorite distro is the best.

I'm still kind of a newb, but I've used knoppix, redhat, slack, and mandrake, but they are no comparison whatsoever to gentoo. I just switched to gentoo a few days ago and it is "supah-pimp". I'm sure it'd be perfect for you if you've been using linux for a few years. It lets you do everything yourself! The emerge command is a wonderful alternative to rpm's and the like. I'll never go back!

Gentoo or Debian. Both are very Unix like and both have superb package management that is vital for a desktop OS.

I have used Redhat, later switched to Debian. Next one will be FreeBSD. This is not Linux though. My next Linux would be Gentoo.

why do you want a new distro, what are you expecting to get out of it that you don't get out of slack?

If you're so bored with computers now you just want do something then how about getting away from them, or trying *bsd ;D

Fedora is one of the more 'user friendly' distros like Mandrake, I found Fedora Core 3 very bloated and after 3 or 4 hours I decided that it was time to move away from Fedora Core (I had used Fedora Core 2 for a few months previously).
