How to determine if my Linux server is a PTP master or slave clock

my CentOS 7.3 server is connected to an external PTP grandmaster clock. I'm running the ptp4l and phc2sys system services. My ptp4l configuration has the slaveOnly setting defined to 1. Is there a way to definitively tell me that my Linux server is actually a PTP slave? I tried using the "pmc" (PTP management client) utility but don't see anything that will report the clock's state. Does anyone know another way? thanks
