How to control hard disk usage in Samba?

Hi! I have clients connecting to the samba server which acts as the file server. Basically, almost all the clients are windows. They just drag and drop files to their folder in samba. Is there a way for me to control the storage for each client on the samba server? Let's say 1GB per user...I also wanted to add up some roaming profile capability but still don't know how. Hope someone can help me on this. Thanks.

This might be the long way around but you can create 1 GB image files, mount them to whatever linux subdirectory that you choose using the "-o loop" option in either mount or fstab and then setup each Samba share to use the linux subdirectory corresponding to whatever image file you want that Samba share to use.

Ok...What if I have let's say 150 users? And I want to provide each of them a 1GB of storage space..It is a hard approach if i'll create image for every one of them. Is there an easier way? How about roaming profile? Can you help me on it? Thanks.

Looks like not, although you can automate all of it using shell scripts. You might also want to look at http://expertanswercenter.techtarget...141666,00.html to see how and what you can do regarding roaming profiles on linux. If you do use my method, each of your windows users are guaranteed to be limited to 1GB (or whatever you set for each user).
