60GB laptop hard disk & 200GB external USB hard disk linux compatibility

I am thinking of buying one 60GB laptop hard disk & one 200GB external USB hard disk.
I am considering
WD Scorpio 60GB 5400RPM 8MB Notebook HDD for laptop hard disk and Maxtor Personal Storage 3200 for 200GB external USB hard disk because of their reasonable price.
Has anyone used them?
Do they work well with linux and windows XP?
