Home fileserver setup for macs and sharing to apple tv?
Hello all,
I've been having stability problems with my current setup, and I am trying to see if its worth fixing or perhaps I could use different software altogether. Here is what I have:
2 macbook pros backing up with time machine over the network
an apple tv 2 on which I am watching transcoded content (mostly with airplay)
Here is my current solution:
I have an older machine running Ubuntu 11.04. I have 2tb of storage equally divided into 3 partitions; one for each of 2 users' time machines and 1 shared. The shared partition is shared r/w using afpd and netatalk. It is also shared via samba read only. The problem is when I accidentally mount the shared media partition in finder on the mac, xbmc (which sees the samba partition) crashes. (xbmc is on the apple tv 2, it is jailbroken.)
I am also thinking of trying out sick beard, but I'd like to get what I have stable before I move on.
Any help would be appreciated.
