setup home network and file sharing : ubuntu 8.10 , windows xp and wireless router
Hallo,
I have recently installed Ubuntu 8.10 in my laptop and i want to share files with my desktop which is running windows xp.
The desktop is connected via Ethernet cable with a wireless router and the laptop is connected wireless with the same router. Ubuntu recognize the router and both pc's are connected correctly to the internet.
All i want is to share my files and have access to them from both computers. To do that i think i have to setup a home network and then map
the drives for sharing, but i don't know how to configure the setup as there are lot of options.
It would be helpful if anyone could describe the configuration steps in both operating systems (windows xp and Ubuntu).
Thank you for let me asking!
I am really happy to join the linux community.
Thanks a lot.
I suppose I should define both systems as servers, shouldn't I??
Ubuntu has an administrate tool called network configuration and when i click to add a wireless connection i get confused with the id,DHID and SSID. Where can i find them to fill them in??
