is it the same error message as before when installing gramps? maybe (but i doubt it) theres a gramps slackware package.

it seems like it might require 2.0 exactly. not a later version.

touchy hmm lol , well I'll try and install exactly 2.0. if that dosen't work I'll just give up maybe something with gramps dosent like slack ?

thanks for your help though I do apreciate it. I'm starting to think if i see an error in configure its best to give up right there haha

sorry i couldn't help. i don't mean to advertise but i use FreeBSD, and i love ports. you don't have weird problems like this. i checked the FreeBSD ports for "gramps" and i found it. if you had FreeBSD all you would have to do is this:

# cd /usr/ports/science/gramps
# make install clean
and that's all. i swear it works for like every program w/o any dependency problems (it resolves them for you and donwloads the appropriate package). just something to think about....

I downloaded the latest gramps the unstable version, now I get this error
checking for pygtk-2.0 >= 2.3.4... Requested 'pygtk-2.0 >= 2.3.4' but version of PyGTK is 2.2.0
at least now it can see i have pygtk haha

so does that mean it wants version 2.0 or version 2.3.4 ? lol

closer. how did you install gnome-python? i would do a slackware package install of it. i think the problem might be that it doesn't see where you installed it (that is, if you didn't do a slackware package install).

Ive tried three diferent slackware install packages of it it still wont see it , Ive gt bigger problems now I edited my /etc/rc.d/rc 4 to load kdm rather then gdm now I can't boot I'm gessing I didnt make then new /etc/rc.d/rc 4 exacutable . any way to fix this without reinstall ?

i'm not really sure, i haven't experimented w/ that file before. you should do a new post on that question to get good exposure though.
