I am new at this. I am just getting started. I am trying to get Yahoo messenger to work on my Mandrake 9.1. I keep seeing a lot of stuff about Gain but I can't get it to work. I have just installed. I am so tired of the blue screen of death, so I want to get this working. I don't know how to run the "console". Is there anyone that can help me get this going? Thanks, I appreciate the help!!
go here http://navi.cx/~mike/autopackage-pdb/index.php then download gaim auto package, and click on the console and type sh gaim-1.2.1.x86.package, and it should ask you if you want to install it and type y and then it should ask you to enter your root password, after that it will ask you if you want to install gaim and ask for the root password, enter it and it should install gaim.

Checking for GtkSpell Spell Checking Library ... failed
-------------------------------
Error: Could not find 'GtkSpell Spell Checking Library'. Try using the native package manager for Mandrake Linux (urpmi) to install a package with similar name to 'gtkspell'.
Error: Unable to prepare package Gaim Internet Messenger.
It's worth noting that in future, autopackage will hopefully be able to do this for you. For now yes you need to install libgtkspell yourself.
You should also ask the Gaim developers to make gtkspell a "weak" dependency, which means it'll be used if it's available otherwise it'll just switch off spelling checking. There are tools available which make this easy for them, but they refuse to use them
