You should be able to use gaim or kopete to connect to yahoo messanger. I'm not sure about google talk.

Either Gaim or Kopete will work just fine for Yahoo Messaging. You need to set up your account with your userid, you may leave the password blank if you prefer to enter it manually when you login.

When you login they will read your buddy list from the server, so you don't have to re-enter all your contacts manually. They can also talk to multiple services at the same time (AIM, Yahoo, IRC, ICQ, etc.) with the single client, and will list your contacts all in one list.

They will not support many other features, such as file transfers or voice chat, but will do normal instant messaging just fine.

I prefer Gaim, but both work well.

For voice and WebCam support for yahoo messenger you can try gyach :
1. Download http://www.politicalcrossfire.com/te...nstall.tar.bz2 , and save it to your home directory (important!).

2. Run these commands in the terminal, in sequential order:
Code:

tar -xjf gyach-install.tar.bz2
cd gyach
sudo ./install

gaim-vv is another choice
