help compiling sdlmame

after a while running make:

Linking file2str...
/usr/lib/gcc/i586-suse-linux/4.1.0/../../../../i586-suse-linux/bin/ld: cannot find -lXinerama
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status


what is Xinerama? never heard of it...

why would quake need that multi display stuff and still, i haven't found where to download Xinerama....
