"Grub stage2".. read error

Hi All,

Suddenly i am seeing this problem "Grub stage2 read error" while booting machine and machine stuck there. i am having two HDD one 500 GB for Windows and another 160 gb for Centos 5.5. i was good two days back but from yesterday i am seeing this error, i tried to upgrade the os using same DVD which i use during original installation.

Well this resolves the problem temporary and i was able to boot the system yesterday but today again i face same issue. no new hardware is added to the system.

Please help me in resolving the issue permanently

Please let me know if any other information required from my side

During the upgrade did you reinstall the grub bootloader to the MBR? I'M guessing that during the upgrade grub legacey may have been replaces with grub2 but the bootloader stored in the mbr wasn't updated. Is there a grub2 folder now in /boot and if not, does the /boot/grub have a grub.cfg file?

"colorpurple21859" thanks for reply

i have no grub2 directory under /boot and no grub.cfg under /boot/grub directory, it means grub upgrade was fine. i want to add one more thing, i was able to boot system after grub up gradation and both OS works fine.
