Question GPS road maps for linux

I have just loaded linux onto my laptop and need to install a gps and street mapping software on it.

Are there any street mapping programs out there that is compatible with linux? if so where can I find them. (I really don't want to install M$ onto this sys., if I can help it)

Any and all assistance anyone can provide will be greatly appreciated.

The only one off the top of my head is GPSDrive. Goto Google and search for it.
