I am trying to install gnu backgammon.
I have so far tried three different packages of it:
1. gnubg-0.15-1.i686.rpm. - I thought this would be my best bet. On trying to install the rpm, i got a message that it could not be installed due to a unsatisfied dependancy. So i checked my system and found that the file was in fact there (libreadline.so.4).
I installed the rpm at the command line with the --nodeps option. When i tried to start the program it did not work.
. I took out the rpm from my system.
2. I then tried the stable release of gnubg-0.14.2.tar.gz. AND the gnubg-0.14.3.tar.gz version.
I run the commands:
./configure
make
and get this error for both packages
--------extract from output of make---------

exit
---------end of output---------------
now i looked at the file gnubgmodule.h line 39 & it says this:
extern PyMethodDef gnubgMethods[];
------
- is this a source code error?
Can anyone please help? Do these error messages indicate a problem with my system or with the packages im trying to install?
Has anyone sucessfully installed gnu backgammon in Linux? I know there is a windows port for it - unless i can get this working i might have to think about re-installing windows xp
Thanks for your help.
