yes, and the good thing, is that you are able to run konqueror under Gnome, if you prefere that desktop.
Generally then you look at the layout, it seams to me, that Gnome, is for the user, with easy menu, and easy looks.
But that KDE is more for the 'root', becuase you are to by default to have 5 different terminals in the menu.
And Konquror is much stronger as file browser.
Gnome is also a bit harder to shape as you wish, if you want to have numlock enablet all the time, the process is much longer, but in KDE is more or less two clicks in a menu.
An other ting that bothers me with Gnome, is that it has snapshot enabled af default.
With feature, and a danish keyboard with æ, ø, å it's almost impossible to write a web address, because Gnome thinks that I want to take snapshots... :-)
Funny little feature :-)
But my advise to you, is to install both, and see what you like.
