gnome panel disappears

Hi,

During a download the system froze and I have to power off. On power up the gnome panel disappears. Only my home directory and trash icons are displayed. I can still right click on the background to get a menu for window/terminal/change background etc. How can I reset it to get back the panel? I am on Redhat 8. Thanks

Try typing "gnome-panel" from a terminal. What happens?

It works ,command gnome-panel brings up the panel.
Now what do I do to reset it?
The file .Xsession-error in my home directory contain these lines:

SESSION_MANAGER=local/localhost:/tmp/.ICE-unix/767
Loaded background '0x80a0d58
Window manager warning: Tried to ping a window with CurrentTime! Not allowed.

Thanks

It seems to reset itself after logout/login.

Merry Christmas!
