I use CentOS at work, and there is a context menu item for gnome-terminal when I right click on the desktop. This is a very useful feature, I think, and I've gotten quite accustomed to opening gnome-terminal this way.
How do I add a gnome-terminal item to the gnome-desktop right-click menu?
You're probably looking for nautilus-open-terminal, which can be found in a few places by googling, but may also be available through yum, apt-get, etc.
