I may be wrong, but I believe this functionality has been removed from Gnome 2.12. Not sure how you feel about this, but you can set a keyboard shortcut to open a terminal if you want. If it has been removed from the contxt menu, I would say there is no way to get it back, short of coding, unless the Gnome dev team has made the context menu configurable.
