Ghostscript - Can't find fonts

Hi all.

I've been having this problem for a while:

When I launch 'gs' from an xterm, i get:

[dave@localhost dave]$ gs
GNU Ghostscript 7.07 (2003-05-17)
Copyright (C) 2003 artofcode LLC, Benicia, CA. All rights reserved.
This software comes with NO WARRANTY: see the file PUBLIC for details.
Can't find (or can't open) font file /usr/share/ghostscript/Resource/Font/Times-Roman.
Can't find (or can't open) font file Times-Roman.
Substituting font Courier for Times-Roman.
Can't find (or can't open) font file /usr/share/ghostscript/Resource/Font/Courier.
Can't find (or can't open) font file Courier.
Unable to load default font Courier! Giving up.

There are no files at all in /usr/share/ghostscript/Resource/Font/, and I've tried reinstalling both ghostscript and ghostscript-fonts. Any ideas?

This is on a Fedora Core 1 box, which is kept up-to-date with YUM.

Cheers,

Dave

you need type1inst utilitary... go where you installed ghostscript fonts, and run type1inst. It will create a Fontmap file... copy it in /usr/share/ghostscript/8.14/ directory. If that's still not work, set up GS_LIB (where you have installed GS fonts)environnement variable. For example:
Code:
export GS_LIB=/usr/share/fonts
the end of the gs man page may also help you

Panic over: must have been a botched font install.

I uninstalled ghostscript and ghostscript-fonts and reinstalled, and the fonts appeared in /usr/share/ghostscript/Resource/Font/

It would appear that --force re-installing over an existing rpm doesn't always work.

Cheers anyway.

Dave
