gcc compiler


[root@localhost ravin]# cd gcc-3.4.2
[root@localhost gcc-3.4.2]# ./configure
loading cache ./config.cache

checking target system type... i686-pc-linux-gnu
checking build system type... i686-pc-linux-gnu
checking for a BSD compatible install... /usr/bin/install -c
./configure: line 2332: cc: command not found

how do i fix this

what distro r u running ???

coz suse people have reported this .. in other threads...

I am not too comfortable with compiling/upgrading gcc .. coz i've read there are way too many problems associated....

U can get the binary gcc rpm's from rpmfind.net
