gaim

i tried installing gaim 2.0.0 beta 6 and now when i try to start gaim i just get this

[eric@vector~]$ gaim
gaim: error while loading shared libraries: libgaim.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

i looked for the libgaim.so.0 and i found it in /usr/local/bin so i'm assuming it somehow got in the wrong spot or something, can anybody help me out?

Uninstall gaim and then reinstall it in /usr i.e. when you run the configure script do
Code:
$./configure --prefix=/usr

I'm new to Linux, and I had this same problem, I tried to do what reddazz suggested but it didn't work for me. Since this was the top link when I searched I figured I should add what I did that helped me.

I made a symbolic link (I had to be root to do it). Then everything worked fine (so far).

Code:
ln -s /usr/local/lib/libgaim.so.0 /usr/lib/libgaim.so.0
