RedHat 9 - have 2.4.20-8 from the iso images, but also have 2.4.21 burned to a CD
Dual boot Linux and XP for now.
Since I have a 60GB hdd just for Linux, can I do a Server Installation and choose Everything, then turn off running services that I don't need right now? This way I will already have all the packages and dependancies there.
I tried that once (select all packages), but quickly re-installed Red Hat because it was just too much useless stuff taking up space. Once you get comfortable with what packages you need, you will not have a problem being selective when installing the OS. (Which is the better alternative, I think.)
So should I install Server Installation, and choose some packages; or choose a different installation?
I have plenty (60GB) of space, but just don't want a lot of services running that will slow down either the boot time or the performance once Linux is running.
