freeze on boot after installing
STEAM-CLIENT FOR GAMES. FREEZE AFTER TRIED INSTALLING SOME OF DEPENDENCIES OF 32 BIT UNDER 64 BIT PLATFORM (Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init!)
hi there friends.. i really need some help.. i love games and one day i want to try dota2 for linux.. so i must install steam client for this game, in backtrack 5r3. i install ubuntu one software centre.from there i install steam-client.unfortunately it needs to use libc6 2.15 which i think only for the newer ubuntu type.. mine bt5r3 is lucid.there it start the problems... the steam-client suppose to run with it dependencies in 32 bit not 64 bit type..
i tried to force installing several dependencies and finally my linux freeze when boot up.. i have tried to edit the grub with acpi=off and apm=off but no success. at least its show some log in the screen
i uploaded some screen showing where its freeze when booting
im using linux bt5r3 lucid ubuntu type 64 bit kernel is 3.2.6
this is some of my bash history before the incidents
file /usr/bin/steam
cat /usr/bin/steam
gedit /usr/bin/steam
apt-cache search libgl1-mesa-dri
apt-get install libgl1-mesa-dri
apt-get -f install
sudo apt-get install ia32-libs
apt-get -f install
clear
uname -mr
sudo dpkg --add-architecture i386
sudo aptitude install ia32-libs-multiarch
cd softwares/
dpkg -i steam_latest.deb
dpkg
apt-get install dpkg
exit
what happened after i installed some of these dependencies is when i want to type some other commands in the command or clicking something it said there is no file of that type like it have been deleted but i boot up with live usb and checked the file is still there for example like gnome-terminal, dpkg and apt-get and then after reboot it freeze until the picture below
the last log in the screen was:
Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init!
what should i do?please help me
