i installed Real Player 8.0, then the 9.0 codecs, and got the plug-in to work with Mozilla, does anybody know how to get it with Firefox? I have all my settings/java there, and i don't wanna switch to mozilla.

The RealPlayer 8 installer does not recognise Mozilla based browsers, such as Mozilla Firefox. To install the RealPlayer 8 plugin, follow this procedure:

1. Start the RealPlayer installer.
2. Copy nppl3260.dll to your Mozilla Firefox plugins folder and and nppl3260.xpt to your Mozilla Firefox components folder. They will be in a folder with a name such as ~rnsetup in your temporary files folder.
3. Install RealPlayer if you do not already have it installed, or close the installer if you do.

This is what i found, but i cannot seem to locate these file names. are these for linux or windows? anybody know?

The Mozilla plugins folder is inside a folder called .mozilla in your home directory.
It is a hidden file.
As for the dll's I'm guessing they're generated during the RealPlayer install.
I don't use RealPlayer, I use Gxine with Firefox.
If you have Gxine installed, get the rp9 codecs from:

http://ftp3.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/releases/codecs/

Untar them to your home directory (or wherever) , open a terminal and
type gxine
Follow the instructions.

You can then go to the preferences in Gxine, select the codecs tab and type in
the path to the rp9codecs folder. (/home/foo/rp9codecs)
Close Gxine.

Firefox should now pick up RealPlayer streams with Gxine.
