ffmpeg corrupt file


hi what is an easy way detect corrupt movie file during or before using ffmpeg to encode them? is there a command I can use to check if the file is not corrupt and then pipe it ffmpeg or standard input?

Reading the basic structure of a media file can be done with any player like VLC, Mplayer or Xine or with 'mediainfo'. I haven't found anything even remotely resembling Gspot though (http://gspot.headbands.com/ if you've never heard of it).
