Fedora Core 9 ACPI Issue

After installing fedora 9 on a Portwell 8779 board, i am getting the following message:-

ACPi error attaching device data on bootup. It then goes on to a blank screen with "input not supported" or "inout out of range" depending on which monitor I use. Fedora 8, 11 and 18 installed ok.

ACPI=off has been entered at the beggining of the install but this makes no difference.

Thanks for your response, but unfortunately I have to use Fedora Core 9.

Is there any work arounds to get it working.

and unfortunately there is NO operating system called "Fedora core 9 "

fedora DROPPED the "core" in the name back in "Fedora core 6" to Fedora 7
they DROPPED the core from the name 3 versions before 9

fedora9 is 13 versions out of date
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/End_of_life?rd=EOL
it went END OF LIVE in July of 2009
SIX!!! 6 YEARS AGO !!!
IT IS MISSING SIX YEARS OF SECURITY FIXES AND UPDATES

if your computer is NEWER than 2009 it might NEVER INSTALL
and if it dose new hardware WILL NOT be supported

if you MUST use something that has been buried six feet under for the last six years

have a look at the Fedoraforum END OF LIFE section
http://www.forums.fedoraforum.org/forumdisplay.php?f=75

Might it have apm instead? If however 8 and 11 worked then I'd suspect that you have a bad disc or download or both.

Unfortunately the details that are in the original post is all the information I can provide, the installations of version 8, 11, and 18 install fine without any errors. Version 9 is installed with the same options selected but an error occurrs.

Thanks jefro, I am downloading it again from the link you provided and I will try again.

I get the feeling it is a video issue. Try the other screens (I forget) like ctrl-1 or ctrl-F1 and such to see if you get a terminal.

Might have to use boot options.

If you back up that tree there are some 386 images to try. I'll assume you don't really need 64bit.

fedora 9 did CHANGE the naming of ide and sata drives
/dev/hda1
and
/dev/sda1

everything started using SD??

was it 9 that had the SERVER breach and the hashes for the repo were redone using a new key

the only working repo would be the archive
http://archives.fedoraproject.org/pu...ux/releases/9/

YEP
there are "NEW KEY" listings
http://archives.fedoraproject.org/pu.../9/Everything/

the keys on the install iso DO NOT match anything used
the keys on the iso were REVOKED !!

you are a bit SOL "S??t out of luck "

the key in " Fedora-9-i386-disc1.iso "
are incorrect

you will need the NEW KEYS in the "fedora-release-9-2.noarch.rpm"

have fun adding them

it is a "chicken and the egg" issue

you need the correct key to install
but you can not install the key UNTIL it is installed

so during install do not let anaconda try to update
do a TEXT ONLY install
then manually insert the new keys
