Dell D800, Fedora Core 4, ACPI?

Hello. I recently put FC4 on my Dell D800, and it's been working well. Ndiswrapper for wireless went fine, cinch to install, everythings good. My problem now is getting it to Suspend when I hit the Fn+Esc key combo, and to "standby" or something when I close the lid. I need to be able to actually use linux on this laptop as though it's a laptop, not shutting down everytime I need a break so the battery doesn't die.

Any help with this is appreciated. I've scoured the net and found little of use. Some FC1/2 things, which don't seem to apply

Thank you for the help!

Cody

which desktop are you using? i use kde on a d600 (at least 3 years old) and use klaptop to manage power. i can go days with the computer in standy. since i also have the pentium m, i have cpu throttling set. i actually finished about 30 minutes of matlab code running at 95% cpu and it didn't kill the battery.

also in klaptop, you can set how the laptop behaves when you close the lid, etc.

does your ndiswrapper flake out after time? i've seen instances where it almost seems to stop working.

I was using the GNOME desktop.

I will have to put KDE on here and give that a try... I would hope I could set it up in KDE and then use those settings in gnome, as I'm not a fan of KDE.

Thanks

Cody
