Fedora Core 6 : Unable to connect to telnet server


I Installed Fedora Core 6 in my machine. now the problem i faced is that evenafter successfully started the telnet service i am not able to connect to telnet server.

i give IP Address of the machine is 192.168.4.4 and Host Name is : linuxsrvr.gdcst.in

when i type telnet 192.168.4.4 in linux terminal
it give me following error
Temporary failure in name resolution: Illegal seek
connection clossed by foreign host

Network services running fine.

I hope you have "ticked" the Telnet option in firewall (System->Administration->Security Level & Firewall, include Telent as trusted service)

I also think this might be the problem. Fedora usually don't allow inbound telnet connections by default. You can use the above step mentioned by sn68 or edit the iptables rules by hand in order to allow telnet connections to your box.

Telnet server problem in FC6

I also had this problem in FC6. The solution is to use krb5-telnet server instead of telnet server.
