well i have two problems:
1) i can't hear audio cds playing, although fedora is recognizing the artist, songname, etc. (i dare say its downloading that information from the internet)
the slider moves ahead, and the OS is playing, but somehow my speakers don't seem to be getting the sound
i am using the default cd player for fedora core 3 (CD Player in "Sound and Video")
2) i downloaded xine-lib1.1.1, but i get a couple of errors when i try to configure. i downloaded it because i want to play mp3s in fedora. Is there a simpler way of playing mp3s?
3) i tried installing mpg321-0.2.10-1.i386 and it said it couldn't find libid3tag.so.0 and libmad.so.0 (they are unlocatable packages). so i downloaded libid3tag0.15.1b and libmad0.15.1b and did "./configure" and "make" and "make install" on them. it worked fine, and i guess they're installed. but still i get that error saying those are unlocatable packages.
somebody please help me. i'm handicapped without the ability to play cds and mp3s
